Press Release: April 13th, 2007
"Strumming With The King" is the 3rd complete album by Chicago Rock artist Ben Miller!!
Ben's music has been acknowledeged by major label executives from Warner Bros Music and Universal Records who have given fantastic reviews.
Short Bio:
I was introduced to the piano at age 2 by my grandma who was a public school music teacher for many years in the Chicago suburbs. I recieved a classical guitar for Christmas at age 6 which quickly became my instrument of choice because I could carry it around. My mom had classical training and taught me my first chords and finger picking techniques.
I played in a garage band in high school which turned into Friday night rituals of hackey sack, beer, and diverse musical influences.
I began writing songs at age 16 and focused more on electric guitar playing techniques.
I attended college at Northern Illinois University where I studied Business, Technology, and Archaeology while playing with a few different musicians and short lived bands.
The year I graduated I began recording with a master engineer from Sony and learned a few things about sound engineering. He actually lost my original one take recordings so I decided to buy my own high quality digital Tascam studio the following year. I then started my own label in 2003 Jack Hammer Records . I recorded and released my first acoustic album "Each and Everyday" which I dedicated to my mom who had recently passed away. It recieved some air play over in the UK which was somewhat inspiring.
I then recorded and released my 2nd album in 2005 "Farther Than The Eye Can Stare" which I dedicated to my father. I used his artwork for the covers on my first 2 albums.
About 2 months after the 2nd release I started getting phone calls from people in the music industry who were saying some pretty incredible things.
Right around thanksgiving in 2005 I got a call from the Senior VP at Warner Bros Music who gave me excellent reviews and reported a definite influence of Mark Knopfler. It appeared the doors were beginning to open and I was encouraged to make another album. I went back into the studio and embraced the positive reviews and encouragement I had recieved from "Farther Than The Eye Can Stare".
I wrote 2 songs on the spot in the studio which one later became the theme and title for the next album called "Strumming With The King". I dedicated this 3rd album to the music made by some of the hero's that had influenced me so much growing up like Mark Knopfler, Elvis Presley, Jim Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Bob Dylan.

Ben Miller,
Strumming With The King
(BMR)

Even in a time that’s seen and heard just about everything, Strumming With The King still manages to catch afire. The mark of Mark Knopfler may be written in a deep groove on these...
